Magnolab has been launched: Marchi & Fildi e Filidea are partners of the project

Together with a core group of companies of the textile industry, we are partner of Magnolab, the network of textile companies that develops innovation and concrete solutions.

With the other companies of the Biella district that are partner of Magnolab, we work in a in synergistic way, sharing objectives, initiative and foresight. The goal is to create project connected to sustainability and to circular economy with a joined approach.

Textile industry companies present Magnolab. They have joined together to face new challenges and concretely respond to the needs of today and tomorrow.

2022 marks the launch of the Magnolab project, a network of textile companies with different and complementary roles in the supply chain, whose primary mission is to collaborate in a structured way to develop innovation, research and projects related to sustainability and the circular economy.

The project originated from a core group of companies in the Biella district (Marchi & Fildi, Filidea, Tintoria Finissaggio 2000, Maglificio Maggia, De Martini Bayart and Textifibra and Di.Vé) that share objectives, initiative and foresight and that strongly believe in synergistic work .
Magnolab was envisioned with the aim of creating value which is transformed into a physical network of pilot plants, located at a single site in Cerrione (Biella), where it will be possible to collaboratively develop innovative products and processes with rapid experimentation cycles according to a lean management model.
Magnolab is a unique context in which to carry out prototyping activities to be presented to future customers and in which to find solutions for products and processes, that can be transferred directly to the partners’ plants to proceed with production at scale.

The network of pilot plants will include key links in the textile supply chain: fibre preparation, spinning, weaving, dyeing, finishing and digital printing and will remain open to collaboration with new partners.
The pilot plants will consist of real production machinery, on which to develop new projects in conditions representative of industrial realities, with the possibility of working without production constraints, interacting directly with partners in the supply chain. The other qualifying and exclusive aspect of Magnolab is the desire to create connections leading to being completely open to collaboration with Italian and foreign textile and fashion training institutes.
By encouraging the interaction between education and industry, Magnolab is poised to become a unique place for students where teaching, research, development and articulated production converge. As in an authentic textile supply chain, projects and connections with the external market which will gradually be activated.

The ambitious project provides for a strategic investment plan totalling 10 million euro, aimed at the purchase of cutting-edge machinery and the development of a circular economy system at prototype scale that, starting from discarded garments and subsequently partially processed textiles makes it possible to obtain fibres and yarns to be transformed back into fabrics.
With these characteristics, Magnolab, as an all-round innovation node is a unique reality in Europe, a model of collaboration between different companies, a pilot industrial environment, an accelerator of innovation, a privileged place for research, for the growth of skills and human resources.

De Martini Bayart & Textifibra SpA

De Martini Bayart & Textifibra, also known as DBT FIBRE is based in Cerrione (BI). Founded in 2003 from the merger of four European companies with a long historical tradition in the textile industry, over the years it has specialized in the ennobling of sustainable and techno fibres, offering a wide range of carded slivers or worsted tops for classic and fancy yarns. Operating internationally in sectors ranging from textiles to clothing and furnishings, the company processes all types of fibre, from natural to artificial and synthetic, blending tradition and innovation to provide high quality products and create textile solutions for both fashion and industry.

Sustainability is not an abstract idea, but a reality that translates into concrete activities every day, from the use of natural and artificial fibres made from sustainable cultivation to the recovery of waste materials from manufacturing, from the production of clean energy using photovoltaics and geothermal (eliminating all types of atmospheric polluting emissions) to the recycling and development of 100% of packaging materials. Di.Vè S.p.A.

Di.Vè was founded in 1960 in the Biella textile district. Over the years it has developed and established leadership positions in the fashion and hand-knitting sectors. Specialized in a varied production of fancy yarns, today the company focuses on the development of increasingly sustainable processes and products as a strategic asset in line with the EU 2030 agenda.

Maglificio Maggia S.r.l

Maglificio Maggia S.r.l. is a historic company founded in Occhieppo Superiore, province of Biella in 1780; the company still occupies the original mill and continues to improve it through major investments in technology and machinery. The Maglificio Maggia fabrics are designed and created in this factory. In order to provide as much customer satisfaction as possible, they offer a wide range of fabric types, from simple jersey for t-shirts to mercerized interlocks for shirts, from fleeces to double-faced for outerwear, from soft knits for feminine dresses to technical fabrics and terry. The variety of our structures is reflected in the yarns used to produce our fabrics, creating a triumph of elegance for every man and woman.

Tintoria Finissaggio 2000 Srl

Tintoria Finissaggio 2000 is a reference for comparing types of dyeing, finishing, laminating and digital printing for the most technical and high quality products. To guarantee the best service, we carry out the complete manufacturing process internally, from design support to a true ennobling of the fabric, combining our decades of experience as finishers and dyers with the new possibilities offered by lamination and digital printing.
Sustainability for us is a philosophy to be pursued in the environmental, economic and social fields. As a company that strives for excellence, it is also a fundamental and strategic pillar.

Marchi & Fildi S.P.A.

Marchi & Fildi S.P.A. was born in 2007 from the merger of two historical companies in the Biella area: Filatura Marchi and Fildi, both founded in the 1960s. Marchi & Fildi S.p.A., at the head of the international group of the same name, produces yarns for both the fashion and furnishing industries.
The focus on sustainability has always been the driving force behind the company’s innovation, which has resulted in the development of Ecotec®, a production process for the creation of new yarns using pre- and post-consumer waste textile material. The R&D centre along with the collaboration with universities and research centres represent important elements in a constant commitment to innovation in the textile sector.

Filidea s.r. l.

Filidea Srl was founded in 2008 as an innovative and dynamic company within Gruppo Marchi & Fildi. The production of Filidea yarns is concentrated on the fashion sector and on yarns for technical uses, such as protective clothing and workwear, through the Filidea Technical Yarns brand. The selection of raw materials, control over the supply chain and development of yarns through the Research & Development pilot plant have made it possible to maintain a high level of product innovation and a high level of international recognition, thanks also to the collaboration with fibre producers, research centres and universities.
The modern yarn-dyeing plant, totally renovated at the beginning of 2018, allows significant reduction in the use of water and optimization of resources.
