Pitti Filati: young talents of ITS TAM interprete “waistcoat”, a sustainable, genderless and seasonless iconic garment, using the yarns of Marchi & Fildi and Filidea collections
The 90° edition of Pitti Filati ended a few days ago and it was the occasion to give visibility to a collaboration project between our Group and the world of technical education on the Biella district.
At the Marchi & Fildi and Filidea booths we showed the original garments developed by 2nd-year students of the course for Higher Technician for Design and Development of Knitwear Products at the ITS TAM (Higher Institute for Textiles, Clothing and Fashion) in Biella, using the yarns from the Spring/Summer 2023 collections by Marchi & Fildi and Filidea.
Waistcoat has been chosen as the project’s main character: a basic garment, able to offer the visitors a contemporary interpretation to the yarns and following some key values of the brands Marchi & Fildi and Filidea.
Rediscovered by fashion in recent collections, the waistcoat is a unisex, seasonless garment, and constitutes an “easy”, basic garment for all types of interpretation; a creative representation of the values of modern fashion research:

• GENDER EXCHANGE
• SEASONLESS
With the supervision by Fausto Caletti, the stylist who has been developing the Filidea and Marchi & Fildi yarns collections, and by the ITS TAM professors, students created knitted waistcoats using yarns from the Spring/Summer 2023 collections by Marchi & Fildi and Filidea in the colours included in the SS 2023 overview cards.
During their creative work, the students measured themselves not only in terms of the ideation of the finished garments, but also the total number of the steps for their execution, like the choice and the matching of knitting stitches, within the framework of the project.
The project, which embodies our concrete commitment towards the innovation of the textile supply chain through training support and permanent exchange between companies and the educational world, has received a lot of attention and appreciation from visitors.
